Guru Gobind Singh College for Women (GGSCW), Chandigarh’s premier institution for women was established in the year 1973 and has ever since been doing commendable work in the field of education. The college is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh and is run under the management of the Sikh Educational Society. It was established to make young women self-sufficient by imparting quality education to them based on the teachings of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, which highlights a number of virtues such as bravery, humility and dedication towards human service.
Situated in Sector 26, GGSCW offers courses at undergraduate and post graduate levels in the faculties of arts, commerce, science, computer application and management. The university is reputed for its superiority in academics and the commitment of the faculty towards students’ overall growth which enables them to perform brilliantly in all spheres of life.
As regards to the college campus, there are modern facilities such as equipped classrooms, computer laboratories, science laboratories, and a good amount of books in the library. In addition to these activities, GGSCW encourages students to actively participate in extra-curricular activities through a vast range of clubs and societies as well as sports. Furthermore, there are NSS and NCC units which help students to participate in Social service and activities to build their disciplined personalities.
Owing to the experienced environment combined with the stress on intellectual development and moral principles, the college contributes towards women’s empowerment and continues to be a leader in the intellectual growth of the region.
