UPES just wrapped up its yearly Spanish sports and cultural festival. The four-day event, which was planned by the university’s Student Welfare team, promoted friendship between students and teachers.
Spandan featured a wide variety of artistic and athletic endeavors, such as enthralling group dance performances, musical band and orchestra performances, provocative street dramas, and elegant fashion shows. Participants used the festival as a stage to showcase their artistic talent and athletic skills. In a display of the competitive nature of the occasion, teams from seven different schools eagerly took part in basketball, volleyball, cricket, and relay races. These many paths foster unity, creating enduring connections and enhancing the spirit of the academic community.
The Uttarakhand Police Pipe Band, leading the contingents from every school, gave a magnificent performance to kick off the celebration. A relay event spanning eight hundred meters ensued, succeeded by league matches involving volleyball, basketball, futsal, and cricket. With their extraordinary abilities and good sportsmanship, the five participating teams—Raising the Bar (School of Law), Business Brigade (School of Business), Technocrats (School of Advanced Engineering), Python (School of Computer Science), and Phoenix Rising—raised the bar and demonstrated the true meaning of teamwork and competition.
Team Raising the Bar faced up against team Technocrats in a thrilling match for the Women’s Futsal title; Raising the Bar came out on top. Similar results were seen in the Men’s Futsal final, where Raising the Bar defeated Technocrats. There was a twist in the Women’s Cricket final as Business Brigade defeated Raising the Bar to win the championship title. on the meantime, Raising the Bar maintained their supremacy on the basketball arena, defeating Technocrats in both the men’s and women’s divisions. In addition, team Python won the Men’s Basketball championship; in the Women’s Volleyball competition, team Raising the Bar prevailed; and in the Men’s Volleyball competition, Python defeated Team Business Brigade.
Additionally, in cultural competitions like Nukkad Natak, Team Phoenix Rising—a combination of students and teachers from the School of Design, the School of Health Sciences and Technology, and the School of Liberal Studies—won the winner’s trophy.
All things considered, Phoenix Rising won the Best School in Cultural Activities award, and Team Raising the Bar took first place in Sports. Team Raising the Bar was victorious as the much sought-after Overall Champions title. Their outstanding displays in the sporting and cultural arenas cemented their reign as the main attraction of UPES’s yearly Spandan festival.
