Indira Priyadarshini Government Girls PG College of Commerce

The Govt. Girls’ PG College of Commerce in Haldwani, affiliated with Kumaun University, Nainital, was founded on March 31, 1996, along Nawabi Road, Haldwani, in response to the longstanding request of local residents and public representatives. It was subsequently renamed as the Indira Priyadarshini Government Girls PG College of Commerce and holds the distinction of being the first and only government girls’ postgraduate college in Uttarakhand. The college embarked on its educational journey with 85 students and seven Arts subjects. In 2001 and 2005, Commerce and Science programs were introduced, respectively.

Currently, the institution serves 2,480 students across nine Arts subjects, a postgraduate diploma in the vocational course of Yoga and alternative therapy, and undergraduate programs such as B.Com, B.Com (Hons.), B.Sc., as well as postgraduate courses M.A. in English and Hindi, and M.Sc. in Botany, Physics, and Chemistry. The college is dedicated to meeting the educational aspirations of its students, aiming to provide quality education across diverse fields of knowledge to equip students with the skills and acumen needed to confront future challenges and seize opportunities.

Moreover, the college is committed to offering a dynamic platform for holistic education, encompassing awareness of critical topics such as health, hygiene, environmental sustainability, human values, and professional ethics. In this eco-friendly atmosphere, students excel by earning gold medals and securing positions among the top 10 students of Kumaun University.
