Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), in association with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), successfully organised a One-Day National Seminar on “Sensitising Hill Area Development Engineering through Indian Standards” at its Dehradun campus. The event brought together policymakers, engineers, academicians, industry experts, and students to deliberate on the critical role of Indian Standards in ensuring sustainable and safe development in India’s hilly and Himalayan regions.

The seminar was organised to create awareness about standards-based engineering practices specifically tailored for fragile hill ecosystems. Given the increasing challenges posed by rapid urbanisation, infrastructure expansion, climate change, and frequent natural disasters in mountainous regions, the seminar highlighted the urgent need for technically sound, regulation-driven planning and execution.

The event witnessed the participation of senior officials and subject-matter experts from a wide range of government departments and public sector organisations. These included representatives from the Public Works Department (PWD), Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), Rural Development Department, UJVN Limited, UPVL, Irrigation Department, and several other allied agencies.
