Uttaranchal University Promotes Voter Awareness

In a collaborative effort between the Electoral Literacy Club of Uttaranchal University and the District Election Department of Dehradun, a campaign was launched on February 20, 2024. The primary aim was to raise awareness and educate voters in Dehradun.

Chancellor of the University, Shri Jitendra Joshi, and Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, played a crucial role by administering the voter’s oath to participating students.

The Electoral Literacy program saw active involvement from the University’s NSS wing, Pro-Bono Club, and Legal Aid Centre of Law College Dehradun. Mrs. Sarla Chauhan, Meena Chandel, Sunita Jagudi, and Promila Pokhriyal, the BLOs of Shahpur Block, addressed and facilitated the election process for the students.

A highlight of the event was a grand procession led by the chairperson of the Electoral Literacy Club, Prof. V. K. Srivastava, along with Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Dr. Atmanand, Dr. Khaleeq Ahmed, Mr. Gaurav Sing Negi, Mr. Yogesh Juyal, Mr. Jageshwar Rai, Mr. Waseem Ahmed, Dr. Gaurav Jain, and Suremndra Singh Bhakuni. The campaign successfully aimed to empower students and the community with essential knowledge about the electoral process.
