Admission to Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, for undergraduate law programmes is carried out through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Candidates aiming for admission to the university’s flagship programme, BA LL.B. (Hons.), must qualifyfor  CLAT and participate in the centralised counselling process conducted by the CLAT Consortium.

For postgraduate admissions, LL.M. programmes are offered based on CLAT-PG scores, while PhD admissions are conducted through HNLU’s own entrance examination followed by a personal interview.

HNLU Raipur BA LL.B. (Hons.) Admission Process 2026

The BA LL.B. (Hons.) programme is the most sought-after undergraduate course at HNLU Raipur. Admission is granted strictly based on CLAT rank, subject to meeting the minimum eligibility requirements in Class 12. Shortlisted candidates are allotted seats through CLAT counselling rounds, followed by document verification and compliance with applicable reservation policies.

HNLU Raipur BA LL.B. (Hons.) CLAT Cutoff 2026 (Round 1)

For Round 1 of CLAT 2026, the closing rank for the General category under the All India quota for BA LL.B. (Hons.) at HNLU Raipur was 736. Candidates from the OBC category had a closing rank of 1994, while the cutoff for SC candidates stood at 6464. For ST candidates, the Round 1 closing rank was 11239, and for General PwD candidates, it went up to 14329.

Under the Home State quota, the General category cutoff closed at 3847, followed by OBC candidates at 11196. The closing rank for SC candidates under the Home State quota was 20277, while ST candidates had a cutoff rank of 39722. For General PwD candidates, the cutoff reached 55951, and for General Defence Personnel, the closing rank extended to 70287.

HNLU Raipur Admission Schedule 2026 (CLAT-Based)

The admission process for HNLU Raipur follows the CLAT counselling timeline. For the 2026 cycle, payment of the admission confirmation fee for selected candidates in the second merit list was scheduled between January 22 and January 29, 2026, with the second merit list being released on January 22, 2026.

The third merit list was published on February 5, 2026, and selected candidates were required to pay the confirmation fee between February 5 and February 12, 2026. The fourth merit list was released on May 2, 2026, followed by the payment window from May 2 to May 8, 2026. The fifth and final merit list was announced on May 15, 2026, with fee payment scheduled from May 15 to May 20, 2026.

Candidates who completed the counselling process were required to pay the university admission fee by May 30, 2026. Registration for CLAT 2026 is expected to take place between August and November 2026, with the examination, result declaration, and counselling registration scheduled for December 2026. The first merit list for CLAT 2026 admissions is expected in January 2027, followed by admission confirmation fee payment in the same month.

HNLU Raipur LL.M. Admission 2026

HNLU Raipur offers LL.M. programmes at the postgraduate level, with admissions conducted through CLAT-PG. The university provides specialisations in Corporate Law, Technology & Law, and Intellectual Property Rights Law. Applicants must hold a recognised LL.B. degree with the required minimum marks to be eligible.

Selection is based on CLAT-PG rank, followed by document verification and adherence to reservation norms as prescribed by the university.

HNLU Raipur CLAT-PG Cutoff 2026

For the General category under the All India quota, the overall closing rank for CLAT-PG 2026 at HNLU Raipur was 775. Among the available specialisations, the LL.M. in Corporate Law emerged as the most preferred programme, closing at rank 775. The LL.M. in Environmental Law and LL.M. in Intellectual Property Rights programmes also recorded a closing rank of 775 in the first round.

HNLU Raipur LL.M. Seat Intake & Reservation

For the LL.M. programme, HNLU Raipur offers a total intake of 90 seats under the All India quota. Of these, 45 seats are allocated to the Unreserved category, while 24 seats are reserved for OBC candidates. The university earmarks 14 seats for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and 7 seats for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, in line with applicable reservation policies.
